Our Process
We facilitate matching puppies to their forever families based on the Badass Breeder Curriculum by completing Puppy Evaluations and temperament testing. We will do our best to match you with your desired puppy, however it is imperative that we place puppies into homes based on the evaluations and honoring our puppies. The sex and color are not the most important traits of a dog. Their temperament traits is what will determine if a puppy is a good match for your home. If a puppy is laid-back and lacks drive and motivation, they will not be a good dog for someone looking for field training. If a puppy has a high drive and high energy, they will not be good fit for a family that is gone a lot. We want to do everything we can to match you with a puppy that is suited for you and your family. If we consider what is best for the puppy as much as what is best for you, we are setting up for a beautiful, lifelong partnership.
Step 1: Complete Application
The application is to help us learn more about each other and see if one of our puppies is a good fit. Complete application at the top of page.
Step 2: Schedule a Phone Interview
Within 1-2 business days of submitting the application, if approved, I will reach out to you to set up a phone interview to explain our process and learn more about your family and your needs.
Step 3: Reserve Your Puppy
After the interview, if puppies have not been born yet, $150 reservation fee is required to put on the reservation list. The remaining $350 deposit is due when puppies are born. The $500 guarantees your spot on the waiting list for a puppy. Spots are determined in the order deposits are received.
Step 4: Watch for Puppy Updates
Weekly updates and videos will be posted on social media. Follow Blue Creek Retrievers on Instagram and Facebook.
Step 5: Puppy Picking
Puppy picking happens between days 51 and 55 after puppy evaluations are complete. Picking goes in the order deposits are received. I will reach out to schedule a time for a video call.
Step 6: Go Home Day!
Puppies will go home at 8-9 weeks of age. During your puppy picking video call, we will make arrangements for date and time of go home.
Health Guarantee
All puppies will leave Blue Creek Retrievers in good health at the time of the sale and with a health guarantee and contract. The buyer has 3 days to take the puppy to their veterinarian for a new puppy examination. If the buyer is not satisfied with their new puppy, it can be returned at that time, at the buyer's expense, for a replacement puppy of equal value or a full refund of the purchase price.
We guarantee our puppies are free from genetic heart, eye, and hip defects up until 26 months of age. If any dog is found to have a genetic eye, heart, or hip defect before the age of 26 months of age, the buyer is to fix the Golden Retriever and keep him/her as a companion. Breeder will have the option to receive a puppy from a future litter at half price to replace affected puppy. If buyer would like a full replacement puppy, he/she must return the original puppy. This is valid only if Buyer has fulfilled ALL of the Buyer Responsibility listed below.
*Breeder retains the right to evaluate the puppy at their vet as a second opinion prior to any replacements being made. We also reserve the right to acquire a DNA sample and microchip scan from puppy to determine the dog is of one of our lineages.
Buyer Responsibilities:
Appropriate diet and veterinary care

Obedience training
Dog must be microchipped
If the original buyer cannot keep this dog, please contact Blue Creek Retrievers so that appropriate options can be discussed.
Genetic Hip Dysplasia - purchased dog must be x-rayed between 24 and 26 months of age. X-ray's must be sent to OFA for evaluation. We will only honor the OFA reading. If the dog is found to be dysplastic, a letter from a certified veterinarian confirming that the dysplasia is genetic caused must be sent for review to Blue Creek Retrievers. In addition, a letter confirming spay or neuter of the dog will need to be sent to Blue Creek Retrievers from a certified veterinarian for buyer to be eligible for a 1/2 priced puppy or replacement puppy. Please note hip dysplasia is caused by environmental factors is not covered in this guarantee. ONLY genetic hip dysplasia is covered after ruling out all possible environmental causes. If the puppy has been bred before the x-rays have been evaluated by OFA, this portion of the warranty is NULL and VOID!
Genetic Eye Defects - Purchased dog must have CERF exam by a certified ophthalmologist veterinarian by 12 months of age. No dog over 12 months of age will be covered under this warranty for eye defects. Any dog that does not pass the CERF exam must be spayed or neutered. Blue Creek Retrievers will need to be sent the CERF exam and a letter from the vet confirming spay/neuter. Letter must also confirm that the reason for non-passing CERF exam is the result of a genetic eye defect for the buyer to be eligible for a 1/2 priced puppy or replacement puppy.
Genetic Heart Defects - if purchased dog is found with a heart defect before the age of 26 months old, the dog will need to be spayed or neutered. Blue Creek Retrievers must receive a letter from a certified veterinarian confirming that the dog was diagnosed with a genetic heart defect and confirm that the dog was spayed or neutered to be eligible for a 1/2 priced puppy or replacement puppy.
For any of the above defects, a vet letter must confirm the defect was 100% genetic caused and NOT the cause of environmental causes. All vet files and x-rays must be sent to Blue Creek Retrievers for review. Any prior leg, hip, joint, heart, or eye injury will void all warranties. No dog over 26 months old is covered in this warranty.
